This particular Job of Yesteryear mixed media painting features a prospector. Prospectors, lured by gold, silver, and other precious metals, have always rushed to areas in the hopes of striking it rich. In the United States, the Gold rush of the 1840s brought hoards of prospectors over the mountains of the American West to California. These hopeful adventurers relied on luck and raw instinct to find their nuggets, rather than the more sophisticated technological tools available to modern prospectors including metal detectors.

The Prospector III was created with acrylic paint, and the long-limbed character was cut from paper and collaged with kraft paper. The Jobs of Yesteryear are thought-provoking conversation pieces that will bring an air of history and whimsy to any room.
