Limited edition giclée print of The Lamplighter V from The Jobs of Yesteryear Series. Printed on acid-free paper with archival inks and finished with a standard size white mat. This print is easy to frame and get hung on your wall. The Jobs of Yesteryear are thought-provoking conversation pieces that will bring an air of history and whimsy to any room.

Before the widespread use of electricity, streets of most towns and cities were lit by gas lamps. These lamps had to be lit as dusk turned to darkness and extinguished as the day's light filled the morning sky. The Lamplighter was responsible for these tasks and typically employed either a long pole, ladder or tall customized bicycle, which is the way I would have done it.

Each original painting is created on stained wood panel using acrylic paint. The limited color palette gives the work a historic feel. The long limbed characters are crafted using hundreds of hand-torn bits of kraft paper collaged on top of watercolor paper and painted with an acrylic wash. The painting includes details showing how the lamplighter job became obsolete.
